Thermoplastic Composites Enhanced with Graphene for Aerospace

This presentation will showcase the results of a comprehensive, head-to-head evaluation of five distinct forms of graphene incorporated into LMPAEK, a cutting-edge, high-performance thermoplastic developed by Victrex. The primary objective was to assess and compare enhancements in mechanical properties enabled by different graphene materials.

Graphene was initially introduced at low loading levels to produce masterbatches, which were subsequently diluted and processed into final test coupons for rigorous mechanical testing.

The findings are especially relevant for aerospace applications, where LMPAEK-based fiber-reinforced composite tapes demand both high strength and reduced weight. This study provides critical insights for advancing lightweight, high-performance materials tailored for the next generation of aerospace components.
