Optimising Physical and Metallurgical Properties Across Diverse Materials Using Novel Laser Powder Bed Fusion Melting Techniques

Laser powder bed fusion can produce complex components with wrought-like properties, but this depends on tight control of process parameters and machine settings. High, uniform gas flow across the build area is critical for optical density, tensile properties, fatigue performance, and surface finish—capabilities supported by the laminar, high-flow design of Renishaw’s 500Q. Advances in slicing software now also enable processing of no-go zones, including features below 45°, to standards comparable with vertical 90° geometries. 

This talk discusses this novel technique and other approaches that can help additive manufacturing users increase productivity and compete more effectively with traditional manufacturing methods.
