Ian Edmonds is a Senior Specialist and Technical Manager in High Temperature Materials at Rolls-Royce Plc with cross-sector experience in both Aerospace and Nuclear businesses. He is Rolls-Royce global high temperature metallics lead, strategy owner and technical authority on ceramic matrix composites. Recently he led the Civil Aerospace team with accountability for high temperature materials technology across the product lifecycle. Previously, Ian led the team responsible for all non-core materials development & in-service support to the UK naval nuclear reactor and R-R civil nuclear businesses. A Fellow of the Institute of Materials, he graduated from University of Sheffield with Masters in Materials Science and Engineering, and followed this with an Engineering Doctorate at University of Birmingham on the oxidation of thermal barrier coated and uncoated single crystal superalloys.
