Prof Bala Vaidhyanathan (BV) is a Professor of Advanced Materials and Processing and was the Associate Dean for Enterprise (for 9 years) at the School of Aeronautical, Automotive, Chemical and Materials Engineering at Loughborough University (LU). He leads the very active Advanced Ceramics Research Group in the Materials Department and has over 200 peer reviewed publications, named inventor on 17 patents, delivered >60 Plenary/keynote/invited presentations in international and national conferences and written six book chapters.
He has won many national and international awards:
Awarded K.P. Abraham Gold Medal for Best Doctoral Thesis from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore,1998. Twice the recipient of the Inventor Incentive Award by the Penn State Research Foundation, 2000 & 2002. Bronze Medal for Innovation from GE Global Research Corporation, 2006. Glory of India Award from The India International Friendship Society for contributions in the field of Science, Technology and Education for the year 2010.Verulam Medal and prize from IOM3, for distinguished contributions to ceramic materials, 2015. Pfeil Award for the best paper in ceramics field, IOM3, 2017
Nominated for Two Vice Chancellor’s Awards in 2024 – for International Reputation and Collaborative Research
