Dr. Erin Valenzuela-Heeger

Erin Valenzuela-Heeger (she/her) is a Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham, specializing in the reformulation and processing of oxide ceramics for industrial applications. Her current work with the Midlands Industrial Ceramics Group focuses on alumina-based ceramics, including grain orientation, particulate morphology, and granule formation, with an emphasis on sustainable manufacturing. With a Ph.D. in Materials Science and strong industry ties, Erin bridges research and application, collaborating with partners like Rolls-Royce and Lucideon. She is also active in equality and outreach, promoting inclusive pathways into engineering and science
