Louis Masters is CEO and co-founder of Hydra Manufacturing, a University of Leeds spin-out developing hybrid manufacturing processes for advanced materials, such as ceramics. Based on over 15 years of academic research, Hydra’s technology combines additive, subtractive, drying and inspection processes, creating new manufacturing opportunities. This combination of processes accelerates development cycles, facilitates a wider range of material formulations and reduces energy consumption. Their defect correction system allows defects to be repaired mid-process, ensuring each build results in a usable end product. This allows ceramic 3D printing to move beyond prototyping towards high-value functional applications.
