James is a Senior Technologist at the Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) and is currently leading the UK Aerospace Metallics Strategy through this role.  As part of the technology team within the ATI, James shapes the ATI programme to deliver the technologies that will achieve the ATI’s strategic goals as outlined in Destination Zero.  Before joining the ATI, James spent 12 years working for Rolls-Royce, delivering life improvements for critical rotating parts, developing new materials, and contributing statistical analysis to quantify safety cases.  James later managed the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centres for Materials, overseeing key research undertaken in the UK’s leading universities to bring about the next generation of materials technologies for gas turbine application.
